Legionnaires Snub SLC Mayor

County Mayor Invited to Speak Instead
Organizers of the upcoming American Legion Convention in Salt Lake City are refusing to include Mayor Rocky Anderson in their proceedings. Instead, convention organizer Terry Schow says they have invited Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon to address convention-goers."Mayor Anderson's actions just make our job tougher, to get other people to want to come here," says Schow.
The snub is a reaction to Anderson's participation in anti-war protests when President Bush visited the Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention in Salt Lake City last summer. Anderson says he will participate in similar protests when the President visits the American Legion Convention. Schow says Anderson would not get a warm welcome at the Legion event.
"Last year at the Legion convention in Hawaii, word of what took place in Salt Lake City was pretty common knowledge, and it was not something they were pleased by," says Schow.
All of Utah's congressional delegation, as well as Governor Jon Huntsman Junior, have been invited to speak at the convention. The mayor of the host city would typically join that distinguished group and Anderson says he would gladly accept an invitation. Schow says no such invitation will be extended.

I would invite the Mayor of Salt Lake City to remember his feelings on the morning of 9/11. I would like him to take a hard look at the terrorism going on in the Middle East and ask if he would like to see the same events happening in this country. I'm curious as to what his reaction would be if terrorists started blowing themselves up in his city? Two million non-Jews were annihilated in WWII by Adolf Hitler, and like these militant Muslim terrorists, they don't care if people are Christian, Jews, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, etc., if you stand in the way of their dominating the world with their own agenda. They would kill all of us without a second thought.
