Express Lane Passes Sell Out Quickly

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) Eager commuters snatched up all 600 passes for the new I-15 Express Lanes this morning in less than 90 minutes. UDOT spokesman Nile Easton says some buyers went overboard, with friends and co-workers logging on to buy a $50 decal as backup. He says passes returned to UDOT will be released online as they become available.

The 600 people who snagged one will have the chance to automatically renew each month. Easton says UDOT may increase the number of passes they offer, but it will be several months before that decision is made. He adds the $30,000 UDOT will generate from decal sales each month is just enough to break even on maintaining the lanes.
