Toll Analysis Expected Next Month for Mt. View Corridor

(KCPW News) A series of town hall meetings in 15 cities along the proposed Mountain View Corridor route yielded a range of public comments for state transportation officials. UDOT spokesman Nile Easton says residents of western Utah and Salt Lake Counties are very emotional about the prospect of a toll road in their neighborhood.

UDOT plans to complete an analysis of the toll road option for the Mountain View Corridor by the end of September. State officials warn that without tolling, the road could take many more years to complete because of funding shortages. Once the analysis is complete, the Transportation Commission - comprised of seven governor's appointees - will decide if the Mountain View Corridor will be a toll road. Easton says the department is planning another round of town hall meetings next spring to discuss possible road alignment.

I am fearful of having a freeway going over gas lines and under high power utility lines (5800 West). Is that really safe? But I do feel that we need another north/south freeway. I would be in favor of a toll road. If it has to be done, we ought to get it started and let those who use it help to pay for it.

I am NOT in favor of a toll road! Why have I been paying gasonline taxes at the pump for years to pay for infastructure east of redwood road and now when it's time to finally get ours on the west side, I have to pay for that myself too?

Raise the gas tax! It's what it's for!
