Immigration Forum Aims to Nudge Congress

(KCPW News) A group of local immigration reform advocates is launching an online discussion site aimed at getting Congress back on the topic. After nationwide rallies and intense debate this spring, the U.S. House and Senate passed different versions of immigration reform. Efforts to negotiate those differences have since stalled."We're not just trying to have a nice discussion that kind of goes on. We really want our debate to be geared at 'let's get a bill passed before the end of this year,'" says site organizer Tiani Coleman.
Solvenow.org is being created by Coleman, the former chair of the Salt Lake County Republican Party and former state lawmaker Matt Throckmorton. The two were part of an immigration advisory committee for Congressman Chris Cannon, which recommends a variety of border security and guest worker permit policies.
Coleman says the new website will feature dozens of discussion groups moderated by national figures, as well as blogs and interactive policy statements.
