Thursday, 7 p.m. Meeting at Hawthorne Elementary
(KCPW News) Residents in the Liberty Park neighborhood can voice concerns and make requests at a special City Council meeting tomorrow (tonight) at Hawthorne Elementary. Before taking public comment, the Salt Lake City Council will take a tour of the district, hosted by Councilmember Jill Remington Love."The theme of my tour is really preservation, because I think we have critical neighborhoods and we need to address how we will preserve them," says Love.
She is planning to request funding for a citywide preservation plan that would survey the city "and identify historic structures" in each district.
The City Council would then create preservation and zoning ordinances compatible with the plan. The meeting in District Five begins Thursday at five with the tour, followed by public comment at 7 p.m. at Hawthorne Elementary.
