Energy Solutions Too "Hot" for Delta Center?

None by KCPW

(KCPW News) If the Utah Jazz are hot this season, their home may soon be even hotter. Radioactive waste disposal company Energy Solutions has paid undisclosed millions for the right to attach its name to the Delta Center.

The choice is considerably more controversial than other sports franchises with arenas named after banks, cars and brands of soda. Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller says he's done the research and will gladly respond to any criticism for the partnership with Energy Solutions.

The company stores low-level radioactive waste at a dump site in Tooele County.

But Vanessa Pierce of the Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah calls it "a slap in the face of Utahns who don't want our state branded as the nation's dumping ground."

Why should companies not be allowed to support our community when they are helping keep radioactive waste under control?
