(KCPW News) Men and women who work for escort services in Park City are now required to have a sit-down chat with a police officer before they can do business in town. The new rule is part of a recent tightening of escort service laws enacted by the Park City Council in reaction to crimes associated with such business."In the several stings we've set up, each netted arrests for prostitution and promoting prostitution with a 100 percent arrest rate," says Park City Police Lieutenant Rick Ryan.
Ryan says the stings have also uncovered evidence of drugs, weapons, fraud and sexual slavery. Escort services are now considered sexually-oriented business in Park City, and both businesses and employees acting as escorts are required to obtain licenses. There are currently 21 licensed escort services operating in Park City.
