Should Mitt Romney's Faith Be An Issue For Voters?
None by KCPW
Now that Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has filed papers to form an exploratory committee for a Presidential bid, many people are drawing parallels between Romney's possible candidacy and John F. Kennedy. Many worried that Kennedy's Catholic faith would dominate his administration if he was elected. Now Romney is in the same boat with his LDS faith.
Damon Linker is a writer who focuses on the intersection of religion and politics, and is the author of Theocons: Secular America under Siege. He tells KCPW's Bryan Schott that the comparison between Romney and Kennedy is fundamentally flawed.

I think the Mormon faith will be an issue. Any first time non-Christian candidate's faith will be scrutinized. Kennyedy's Catholicism was suspicious because his 2000 year Christian faith was alsays suspect in the US which was very anti-Catholic Christian from its beginning.

Last Time I checked Mitt Romney and all Mormons worshiped Jesus Christ as thair savior. I dont want a religous litmus test, I want to see the character of the presidential candidate. If you look at the current field Mitt Romney is the most qualified and has the best vision for the future of our Country regradless of any ones faith!

Mr. Romney should worry more about the fact that the GOP is too bigoted to get behind a Mormon. What the republican utahns tend to forget is just how closed minded the GOP is towards the LDS faith and just how bigoted they are. You wont see the Christain vote behind a Mormon, we all know it.
