Corroon Not Angered Over Stadium Deal
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon says he holds no "sour grapes" towards Governor Jon Huntsman Junior or the Legislature for going over his head to approve funds to build a soccer stadium for Real Salt Lake.Despite Corroon's rejection of a similar deal just over a week ago, lawmakers approved spending $35 million dollars in tourism taxes to purchase land and build a parking structure for the stadium.
Corroon told KCPW's Midday Metro program that the deal means a reduction of up to two million dollars per year from the County's tourism and convention budget. He says that will make it more difficult to attract conventions to the Salt Palace and South Towne Convention centers.
