Vouchers Could End Up In Court
None by KCPW
(KCPW News) Utah's newly approved school voucher system will go into effect this fall. But it could end up in court, says Vik Arnold of the Utah Education Association:"There are a number of members of the Utah Public Education Coalition that have meeting over the last week to discuss legal action, and I'd say there's a good chance that would happen," says Arnold.
The Utah Public Education Coalition includes the UEA, PTA and a number of school board and superintendents associations. Arnold says none have decided when and how to file suit, but they all have concerns for the legality of allowing taxes to fund private schools without government oversight or mandatory background checks for teacher.
