The bi-partisan Commission on No Child Left Behind recently released 75 recommendations for the reauthorization of the NCLB Act this year. The Commission's charge was to identify both the successes of NCLB and the remaining challenges for closing achievement gaps. To discuss her analysis of the recommendations is Wendy Puriefoy, President and CEO of the Public Education Network based in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. war on drugs has failed to reach its two main objectives...to reduce supply and to reduce demand. Gary Fisher not only challenges the professed notion that our drug war is working, but suggests a drastically new strategy in his book titled Rethinking Our War on Drugs: Candid Talk About Controversial Issues. Fisher is the Founder and the first Director of the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies at the University of Nevada, Reno. He was involved in the implementation of parts of the National Drug Control Strategy for over 12 years.
