Utah's Portfolio, Policies on Display

(KCPW News) Governor Huntsman yesterday convened the Utah Energy Summit in Salt Lake City. Leaders from government, business, academia and conservation organizations from across the nation are in town to examine issues from energy production to conservation and climate change. And it's an opportunity to showcase the state's energy portfolio and policies:

"We are blessed with an abundance of virtually all energy resources - wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, clean coal, even uranium - we've got some of everything," according to Dr. Laura Nelson, Huntsman's energy advisor. "We're also a leader in energy efficiency, I think, both regionally and nationally, and I think that this is a real opportunity to highlight those very unique aspects of Utah's energy picture."

Nelson says the summit is bringing together the brightest minds on energy issues "to talk about how we can coordinate and collaborate to shape both energy policy and development in the West and the effect that that can have on the national landscape as well."

The Utah Energy Summit ends Tuesday. You can register for live webcasts at www.utahenergysummit.com.
