Midday Utah begins after the 9 a.m. news
Dennis Schmitt is a veteran Arctic explorer who discovered in 2005 a new island uncovered by a retreating ice sheet. He will return to Greenland in July to complete the exploration of the world's last uncharted island chain. And you have the opportunity to hear talk about his past and future adventures this Sunday at the Park City Public Library at 4 PM. The presentation is free and open to the public.
A toxic combination of law and managerial practice present formidable barriers to freedom of speech at work. That's according to Bruce Barry, author of the new book titled Speechless: The Erosion of Free Expression in the American Workplace. In it, he cites numerous examples of civil liberty abuses, including a Delta Airlines baggage handler who was fired after he wrote a letter to a newspaper slamming the airline's cost-cutting employment practices. Bruce Barry is a Professor of Management and Sociology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and President of the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee.
