Transit Officials Focus on Non-Commuters in Davis County

(KCPW News) With the Legacy Parkway and commuter rail on track for completion next year, Davis County commuters seem set with options for getting to and from Salt Lake City. Now transportation officials are looking out for those who don't commute:"There are a lot of people that commute, but there are a lot we've found that don't," says UTA spokesman Chad Saley. "They live in South Davis County, work in South Davis County and would like to see transit in South Davis County."
Saley says bus service between cities in the southern part of Davis County is minimal. Part of the settlement over Legacy Highway allocated funds for UDOT and UTA to study expanding transit in that area.
Saley says all options are on the table, including light rail, streetcars and bus rapid transit.
South Davis County residents are initially invited to fill out a questionnaire and offer transit suggestions online. Later, Saley says public meetings are likely.
