Turner In Favor of Skybridge Construction

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) The argument over whether or not to build a skybridge over Main Street in Salt Lake City continues to hound city officials. Salt Lake City Councilman Van Turner says he's in favor of the idea of a skybridge because of the conveniences it will bring to downtown residents.

Turner disagrees with the argument that a skybridge over Main Street would take away the view of the city corridor. He says the view is already obstructed by light rail construction, and he adds Main Street is difficult for pedestrians to cross because of the light rail system. However, Turner won't vote for a skybridge if the design doesn't work for the city's surrounding blocks. He says a view inside the skybridge and multiple entrances are necessary.
