Lieutenant Governor Hits Voucher Campaign Trail

(KCPW News) Governor Jon Huntsman has chosen to keep a low profile in the pro-voucher campaign, but his right-hand man is diving right in. Lieutenant Governor Gary Herbert will participate in a pro-voucher town hall meeting tomorrow night in Park City. KCPW's Julie Rose reports:
Utah's Governor says he supports school vouchers but will not actively campaign for the upcoming referendum. Instead, Lieutenant Governor Gary Herbert is taking up the torch. Tomorrow night Herbert will appear for the first time at a pro-voucher town hall meeting. The event will be held at a private school in Park City and is being organized by the Informed Voter Project, which is a political issues committee formed by pro-voucher lawmakers.
Representative Greg Hughes helped organize the group. He says both Herbert and Huntsman are quote "intimately involved in supporting the voucher bill they helped signed into law."
The Lieutenant Governor's Chief of Staff Joe Demma paints a more cautious picture. He says Herbert will share both the pros and cons of vouchers during the meeting. Demma also says Herbert would be willing to participate in anti-voucher gatherings, but has not received any such invitations.
The Informed Voter Project is holding dozens of gatherings around the state to drum up support for vouchers. Tomorrow night's meeting will be held at The Colby School in Park City at 7 p.m.

swrl obviously hasn't read the voucher bill. But then, that is the biggest flaw in those who oppose vouchers. They understand nothing of what they speak. Quit listening to the Guv Skool Educrats!
