Clean Air Advocates Gather In SLC

None by Eric Ray

(KCPW News) The air in Utah is taking center stage in Salt Lake City today as representatives of 40 groups working to clean up air pollution gathered at the Utah Clean Air Summit.

Cherise Udell, Founder of Utah Moms for Clean Air, says the goal of the summit is to form a Clean Air Alliance that can work together to pressure lawmakers to make strong environmental decisions.

If an alliance is formed, Udell says their goals will include a "Red Air Alert Emergency Plan" to try to pre-empt days of dangerous pollution levels, and a million dollar clean-air media campaign.

Officials from the Utah Division of Environmental Quality and the Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Council on Climate Change are among those attending the summit.
