Corroon: Reopening Oxbow Jail Likely In The Future

(KCPW News) Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon says at some point it's likely the county will need to increase jail space by reopening the Oxbow Jail and he is in favor of preparing for that now. However, earlier this month the Salt Lake County Council decided against reopening Oxbow and against Corroon's proposal to begin upgrades there.

Instead of increasing jail space, Corroon says the 2008 county budget includes an increase in funding for treatment programs for people with mental health or substance abuse issues.
