Corroon to Ask Lawmakers for Solar Help
None by Eric Ray
(KCPW News) When the 2008 legislative session begins next month on Utah's Capitol Hill, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon says he'll be asking lawmakers to change a law to allow Salt Lake County to get more "green.""We'd like to put some solar panels on some of our county buildings, but there's a law in place that was essentially created for residences. It doesn't allow solar projects beyond a certain size. Twenty-five kilowatts is the limit," says Corroon. "We'd like to see some changes there and we're working with Rocky Mountain Power and some of our legislators to get that done."
Corroon says if the law is changed, it's likely the county would take advantage and implement some larger scale solar operations.
