Great decission! BBC World service is one of the best radio stations in the world. At home (in the Netherlands) I installed a satellite dish to receive this station. In Salt Like City you can receive it on AM. Congratulations!

I've heard this station is having a technical glitch today. Hopefully someone can fix it.

I love the BBC World Service!! There is nowhere else one can learn about what is going on in the world in so much depth. I love listening to british accented voices giving in-depth commentary on American politics. Also amazed by how the BBC has extremely knowledgeable reporters based literally everywhere in the world to provide reporting and commentary on anything that happens at a moments notice. I've even got my husband and daughters listening--they love it too. I keep hearing a religious radio company may be buying the station--I'll be so upset if it comes to pass. I'll have to listen through the internet and actually buy myself an i-pod to download the podcasts onto.

I much prefer news radio over any other type of radio on my drive to/from work, and the BBC radio is the best I've found. The only problem is I can't listen to it in the winter. The signal isn't strong enough to get it to Provo. Once the sun goes down (or hasn't come back up) the signal dies.
My other comment is perhaps weird, but now that I've noticed it, it's become very distracting at times. Some of the main reporters breathe very heavily. They'll talk quickly, say a lot and then inhale so sharply that the mic picks it up. It would be nice if that could somehow be filtered out back in the BBC studio. For some reason it seems the female reporters do this more predominately than the male ones. Don't know why. Listen for it, and you'll hear it...

No! BBC 1010 is gone now.
According to the KPCW (PC, for Park City) main page (they are the ones that still own the signal) they are Simulcasting one of their FM stations on it instead.
According to a representative I spoke to, they've had it for sale for some time, and put BBC 24/7 on it as a type of 'place-holder'. Apparently it didn't provide the ratings and revenue they wanted it to,(NPR anyone?) so they'recurrently using it to help out that FM station.
What a terrible pity. 1010 was our only real source (via the Radio, anyway) for objective News in Utah.
FM 88.3 supposedly still broadcasts BBC at night and from 2-3 PM if I heard right, which is nice, but hardly substantial next to 24/7 programming.

This sucks, I made a donation for this not very long ago, and they're already selling the station to religious radio? So Blare [sic] can pocket alot more including my contribution.
