Urge State to Allow ATVs in Rural Area Streets
(KCPW News) About two-dozen off-road enthusiasts gathered on Capitol Hill today to urge legislators to expand public land use in Utah. The Utah Shared Access Alliance is standing behind Senate Bill 181, which would allow off-road vehicles like ATVs to operate on highways and streets in rural areas.Executive Director Mike Swenson says the bill would benefit not only off-roaders but rural economies as well.
The bill is sponsored by Republican Senator Scott Jenkins. It was approved by the Senate Wednesday morning, but only after it was amended to give cities the ability to opt out.
Republican Representative Mike Noel from Kanab told the crowd he will amend the bill when it comes to the House so that it's mandatory that ATVs are street legal in cities with a population under 7,500. Noel sponsored a similar bill last year. It passed the House but was killed in a Senate committee.

Won't tourists love waking up in the morning to the roar of ATVs in Moab, Springdale, Torrey? We prefer to stay in quiet places on our vacations.

Geezer - Cars, trucks, busses and 18 wheelers do NOT make any noise? You really do need to Get Out of Town on an ATV man.Kanabal - What is your point? You will soon be riding in a car 50 inches wide, 4 wheel drive and trail ready! Get used to it!

Mike Noel needs a better (different) job - one where he cannot screw up anything else.ATVs are not for street use, Noel is not a valid representative.
