BYU Article Alleges KCPW Report is False and Misleading

Governor's Spokeswoman Says She Did Not Say That to BYU Journalist

(KCPW News) A BYU journalist has written an article indicating that a spokeswoman for Governor Jon Huntsman has called a KCPW report "false and misleading." The report this article refers to was written by myself, Jeff Robinson, regarding Governor Jon Huntsman's indication that he will veto two illegal immigration bills, one that would repeal in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants, and one that would revoke the drivers privilege card.   My report did not discuss the governor's position on Senate Bill 81.

Yesterday I spoke with Lisa Roskelley, the governor's spokeswoman who allegedly called my report false and misleading. She says this is inaccurate. She says instead, she told the BYU journalist to do his own reporting for his article, not to rely solely on my previous article. Roskelley was surprised by the BYU journalist's interpretation of her comments.

Here is a clip from KUED's news conference last Thursday, February 21st, attended by several journalists from different news organizations.

Governor Huntsman indicated to journalists after the news conference he will veto these two bills if they remain as they are and ever reach his desk; on other immigration bills, like Senate Bill 81, he said he needs more information. Both of Rep. Glenn Donnelson's bills were sent to the Senate Rules Committee, not reaching the full Senate for a vote.
