KCPW Picks Up 7 Awards at 2008 SPJs

Members of KCPW's news team were singled out for journalistic achievement at the 2008 Society of Professional Journalists's annual awards banquet:

1st Place - Radio Documentary went to Temma Martin in conjunction with Julie Rose for their piece "Walking to Honor the Migrant Dead," which also won a regional Murrow Award.

1st Place - Radio Series went to Julie Rose for her Coming to America series, which covered the challenges international refugees face when settling in Utah.

2nd Place - Continuing Coverage went to Julie Rose for KCPW's coverage of the voucher fight.

In the Public Affairs / Talk Show Category, second, third and honorable mentions went to Midday Metro for segments on policing Pioneer Park, voices of Utah, and an interview with former Senator and one-time presidential candidate Gary Hart.

In the General Feature Category, Julie Rose was awarded 3rd place for her feature on a unique chocolate business in a piece called "Navajo Kids Find Sweet Success."
