First-Ever Master Plan for Downtown Transportation

None by KCPW

Separate from Previous City-Wide Plans

(KCPW News) The first-ever master transportation plan is in the works for downtown Salt Lake City.

Tim Harpst, transportation director for Salt Lake City, says the new plan will address transportation issues specific to the capital city as the point of convergence for commerce and transportation, leisure and work activities. Therefore, says Harpst, it's important the city have a separate plan for serving the various transportation needs of all parties in the downtown area.

To that end, the city is organizing a series of open houses. The first public meeting is scheduled for May 17 at City Hall. For details, go to www.slctrans.com and click on Downtown Transportation Plan.

A final report is expected to be in place by April 2007.
