Obama's Interior Secretary Pick Wants Slower Pace for Oil Shale

Dec 18, 2008 by Elizabeth Ziegler

(KCPW News) President-elect Barack Obama's pick of Colorado Senator Ken Salazar to be the next Interior Secretary could slow the pace of oil shale development in the West. KCPW's Elizabeth Ziegler has the story:

While Salazar's Western roots are noteworthy for Utahns, he would succeed another westerner in the post. Current Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne is the former governor of Idaho. He was nominated to President Bush's cabinet in 2006.

Salazar still faces confirmation by Congress before officially taking the helm of the Department of the Interior.
