Chris Cannon is quite the accomplished spin master. After 10 years, what has he accomplished? Illegal immigration has been around quite awhile and he hasn't done anything.

Better to remove the incumbent than to keep him in any longer.

Mr. Cannon:We can't hire teachers to take some pressure off of overcrowded class rooms but, we can hire teachers to teach ESL to illigal immigrants children, and then we allow them to take scholarships the citizens children deserve. Why do the U. S. Citizens children have to pay in their education to satisfy illigals. We can't afford insurance but my taxes are paying for illegals to have any medical help they need. Illegal immigrants are not noble or special. Also they are hurting our economy by sending over 20 million $ back to their homeland. Children born to illegal immigrants in the U.S. should not automatically become U. S. citizens but be a citizen of the parents homeland. Also, when they send someone back to their homeland the whole family should go as they are a unit and ALL of them are illegal. There was amnesty given 20 years ago and it did not solve the problem. It is only enhanced as the illegals know there will not be any reprocussions to them. To say that these illegals are taking the lower paying jobs is a laugh. What student or other U.S. Citizen wouldn't like to make $12-14 an hour doing yard work?! That is what the illegals are doing. If illegals will break our immigration law what law in the U.S. will mean anything to them? By not requiring these illegals to speak English is a slap in the face to all other immigrants who have become citizens and learned to speak our language. Why does our government enable them in this by posting a site in Spanish? Why not German, French, Portuguese etc? Costs a lot of money.

Another thing, why are you allowing the minority to take God out of our government, off our money, out of our pledge, out of our schools and out of our lives?

This debate proved something to me. Jacob is proposing the very thing that he is calling "amnesty". He even admits he doesn't exactly know what his solution is. I'm glad this is finally coming forward. You can only sit back and take cheap pot shots so long until you have to put something on the table. He basically offered up a watered down "amnesty" himself. This further shows that this issue is much more difficult than he was giving credit and that we need a real, comprehensive reform on this issue. Why would we sacrifice the continued influence that Chris Cannon has gained for that? It doens't make sense. I will definitely be voting for Chris Cannon on June 27th!!

I was actually suprised by this debate. I thought that John Jacob was opposed to "amnesty". It sounded to me like he was proposing something very similar to what Chris has proposed. Now I'm not sure who I'll vote for. My guess now is that Chris Cannon is the better candidate. At least he will have some say in this discussion in DC.

I felt that Cannon did an awesome job on this debate. He pushed John to explain what his "fast pass" concept was. Turns out it's another version of what John calls "amnesty". My vote goes to Chris Cannon!

I agree the immigration problem has to be fixed. It is #1. I agree with what Diane Downs wrote. That letter should go to Congress and the President. The problem isn't Cannon's, but the whole congress. After just reading these comments, it looks like Mr. Jacobs doesn't have a solution. Yelling isn't enough. We must fix this problem because it will destroy America as we know it.

I call it a draw. Jacob is stronger on correcting the presence of illegal aliens. His "fast-pass" is very far from blanket amnesty, and should not hurt him much with the no-compromise crowd. He's not got Cannon's long history of voting against enforcement.

Cannon is stronger on image. Confident, knowledgable. Jacob went into a complaining stance rather often. Much like Dubya's whine "I don't know why you're complaing I did the right thing", Jacob gets into reacting, jabbing as he backs away, but to his credit without going to a high pitched Dubya whine. Jacob does not stand solid in the heat of debate.

I think John Jacobs is relatively green when it comes to the ins and outs of the immigration debate. But he is way better than Cannon who has been selling out the country for years. My family and I are voting for Jacobs.

So why will Chris Cannon not just come out and say I voted several times for amnesty. My staffer incouraged illegal immigrants to donate money to my campaign in 2004.

If Chris is not willing to fess up to his record. Then my vote is going to Jacobs. As for Jacobs "fast pass" idea...it certinly does not resemble any of the amnesty bills Chris has sponsered in the House.

Also, why am I forced to pay increased college tuition for my daughter who is attending school out of state. Chris sponsered the Dream Act that gives in state tuition to illegals. Seeing that money talks, I'm voting for John Jacob!

Chris Cannon is an open borders advocate despite what he says. His record is clear on immigration and he has consistently voted against working Americans to allow cheap foreign labor to replace Americans jobs. He voted to expand H1B visas that allow companies to hire foreign workers to replace high tech Americans Jobs.

For starters there is a very good cure to securing the border. Use it to store nuclear waste. The facilities will be financed by private companies and are a shoot on site premisis for trespassers. Imagine 700 miles long for storage of this waste. Shoot on sight instead of walk on through.
