Finch Lane Gallery
54 Finch Lane
The Finch Lane Gallery, in conjunction with Salt Lake Community College Community Writing Center and the Utah Humanities Council, is hosting an exhibition that features writing in response to participants’ feelings about race. The exhibition, “Perspectives on Race: The Race Card Project,” runs March 14 through May 2. A Race Card Wall, where visitors can articulate their feelings about race in six words, accompanies the exhibition. Andrea Malouf, Director of the Community Writing Center, will speak about the project on Friday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Perspectives on Race: The Race Card Project, based on Michele Norris’s online project, The Race Card Project, instigates candid dialogue about race, ethnicity and cultural identity. The writing in the exhibition is a response to the six-word sentence that has been expanded into six-hundred words (or more) as a poem, an essay or short story. Excerpts from the writing will be on view.
