HISTORIC AIRCRAFT CELEBRATES 70TH BIRTHDAY AT THE HEBER CITY AIRPORT @ UTAH WING OF THE COMMEMORATIVE AIR FORCE (CAF) | Arkansas | United States

Historic Aircraft will Celebrate 70th Birthday at the Heber City Airport!

Heber City. All eyes will be skyward at noon on June 9,, 2014 as the B-25 Maid in the Shade makes her way to the Heber City Airport – on her 70th birthday! Restored and maintained by the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), this historic war bird was commissioned into the Army Air Force on June 9, 1944. It will be available for all to see at the Heber Airport June 9-16 – 9:00am-6:00pm daily. Take a ride or tour the big bird – or just marvel at her magnificent beauty – but make sure you wish her a happy birthday!

The B-25 played an important role in WWII. It was an American twin-engine medium bomber manufactured by North American Aviation. It was used by many Allied Air Forces in every theater of World War II, as well as many other Air Forces after the war ended. It saw service across four decades.

The CAF is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to restoring and maintaining and flying WWII aircraft for the purpose of honoring veterans and educating the general public about the importance of WWII in American history.

This event is hosted by the Utah Wing of the CAF. The Utah Wing maintains a year-round aviation museum at the Heber City airport including two Stearman bi-planes (WWII trainers) and two North American Aviation T-6 Texans (advanced WWII trainers) and a number of educational displays. The museum is open May – October, Friday-Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm.
