Join KCPW and The Salt Lake Tribune for a Town Hall on Campus Sexual Assault

Across the country and in Utah, schools and the justice system are coming under scrutiny for the way they respond to sexual assaults of college students. On Thursday, June 30th, The Salt Lake Tribune is hosting a town hall to explore what Utah colleges are doing to understand, prevent and respond to sexual assaults. KCPW’s Roger McDonough will moderate a discussion with leading voices on the challenges faced by BYU, the U. and other Utah colleges.

Panelists:
• Julie Valentine, a Brigham Young University nursing professor and sexual assault nurse examiner who researches sex crimes and violence against women. She is one of four members on BYU’s “Advisory Council on Campus Response to Sexual Assault,” which is weighing possible changes to how the school investigates sexual assault.
• Jodi Petersen, a sexual assault support advocate with the University of Utah’s Center for Student Wellness who has previously worked with the West Valley City prosecutor’s office and the Salt Lake City Police Department.
• Steve Evans, an attorney and the co-founder of Mormon culture blog By Common Consent
• Erin Alberty, a Tribune reporter who covers sex crimes.
