In July, two public radio programs familiar to our listeners are going off the air. Wire Tap, featuring the creative musings of Jonathan Goldstein wrapped up recording last year, following an 11-year-run. Meanwhile, after thirty-one years, Michael Feldman’s comedy, interview and quiz show Whad’Ya Know will also be coming to an end this month.
While we’re sorry to see these favorites go, we’re excited to announce the addition of two new programs to our line-up. Beginning July 2nd, The New Yorker Radio Hour will air on KCPW Tuesday nights from 8-9pm and Saturday afternoons from 12-1pm. The program, from The New Yorker magazine and WNYC Radio, features a diverse mix of interviews, profiles, storytelling and humor inspired by the magazine, and shaped by its writers, artists, and editors. Give it a listen – we think you’ll like it!
Starting on July 4th, Freakonomics Radio will also join the KCPW schedule, airing Mondays from 9-10am. Host Stephen Dubner has surprising conversations that explore the riddles of everyday life and the weird wrinkles of human nature: from cheating and crime to parenting and sports. Dubner talks with Nobel laureates and provocateurs, social scientists and entrepreneurs – and also with his Freakonomics co-author Steve Levitt.
