Johnson Brings Libertarian Message in Presidential Race to Salt Lake City

Utahns and voters across the nation will have more than two choices when they vote for president on November 6. And one candidate who’s trying to make sure they know that is Libertarian Gary Johnson. The former New Mexico Governor, who initially ran in the 2012 election as a Republican, will hold a town hall meeting tonight in Salt Lake City at Challenger School beginning at 7 p.m.

Federal Unemployment Benefit Extension Re-triggered in Utah

Unemployed Utah workers who have exhausted their 14 weeks of federal benefits can now apply for another 14 weeks as a result of the state’s average unemployment rate being at least 6 percent for three months. As Bill Starks, Unemployment Insurance Director with the Utah Department of Workforce Services explains, those additional benefits were suspended back in June when the unemployment rate dropped, but now they’ve been re-triggered.
