The annual Jewish Family Service Tribute Dinner will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Rice Eccles Tower, University of Utah. Honorees include Dr. Mara Rabin and Dr. Geoff Tabin, a professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Moran Eye Center and co-founder of the Himalayan Cataract Project.

It’s been 12 years since Shannon Hale made a splash with her first young adult novel, “The Goose Girl.” Eleven more books and a prestigious Newbery Honor later, Hale has become a leader in Utah’s literature circles. On Wednesday, Hale joins us to talk about her latest novel, “Princess Academy: Palace of Stone.”

Shannon Hale and author Libba Bray will discuss Bray’s most recent novel, “The Diviners,” on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Viridian Events Center, 8030 S. 1825 W., West Jordan. Both authors will sign copies of their books following the conversation. The event is part of the Utah Humanities Book Festival.
