CityViews 10/17/12: “Of Mice and Men”/LWV Voter Guide

Segment 1:

In addition to penning the classic novel “Of Mice and Men,” John Steinbeck wrote a stage version of the tragic tale. Pioneer Theatre Company brings the heartbreaking story of George and Lennie to the Utah stage and on Wednesday, we explore how loneliness, ignorance and fate figure into this morality play and why this story continues to stir controversy.

  • Mary Robinson, director
  • Joe Tapper, George
  • Mark David Watson, Lennie

Pioneer Theatre Company’s production of “Of Mice and Men” opens Friday, Oct. 19 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 3. For tickets and more information, visit or call 801-581-6961.

Segment 2:

Less than three weeks from Election Day, you likely know a fair bit about the two major party platforms or the positions supported by President Barack Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney. But what about other issues on the November ballot like Utah’s Amendment A or candidates for state auditor? Where can you get answers? Look no further than the Voter Guide produced by the Utah League of Women Voters. On Wednesday, we’ll hear more about their study guide for democracy

  • Jenn Gonnelly, co-legislative director, Utah League of Women Voters
