Recent officer–involved shootings have spawned public outcry and scrutiny about how police officers are trained, when lethal force is justified and how such shootings are investigated.
Join The Salt Lake Tribune for a town hall meeting, “Deadly Force: A Community Response to Police Shootings,” on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South.
West Valley City Police Chief Lee Russo, state Sen. Howard Stephenson, activist Lex Scott and Tribune reporter Erin Alberty will be on hand to discuss policy and explore solutions.
“Public confidence in law enforcement has been shaken by shootings in Utah and nationwide,” said Sheila McCann, managing editor of The Salt Lake Tribune. “We hope this event will give citizens and law enforcement insight into solutions and how to move forward.”
The debate will be broadcast on KCPW 88.3/105.3 FM and live–streamed on sltrib.com.

This was so thoughtful, and informative. I enjoyed the majority of the guests and audience members’ participation. What a great service to the community.
