The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: Dec. 11, 2013) – Chris Burbank has served as chief of police for Salt Lake City since 2006. Before then he served with the police force for 15 years. Burbank has received national attention as a vocal opponent of any policies requiring police officers to act as immigration enforcement agents. He argues that such laws would damage trust among immigrant communities, lead to racial profiling, and would not necessarily reduce crime. In this hour, Chief Burbank explains his views on immigration enforcement, predictive policing, and protecting citizen privacy and civil liberties. This Hinckley Institute Radio Hour was recorded live with an audience of students, at the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah, on November 14th, 2013.
