E.AppelbaumThe Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: June 4, 2014) – Eileen Appelbaum is a Senior Research Economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington D.C., and Visiting Professor in the Management Department, University of Leicester, UK.  This past March she co-authored Private Equity at Work: When Wall Street Manages Main Street.  Appelbaum’s book examines case studies from the past decade and considers whether private equity firms are financial innovators that save failing businesses, or instead financial predators that bankrupt otherwise healthy companies and destroy jobs.  In her talk she identifies several cases where she says the interventions of private equity lead to significant negative consequences for many businesses and workers.  Appelbaum spoke at the Hinckley Institute of Politics on March 28, 2014.
