The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: November 11, 2015) – In September a group of University of Utah administrators held a discussion titled Hazing: a cross-community discussion. Hazing is a widespread and perennial problem experienced by all types of campus organizations, usually as part of an initiation into a group. The harassment, abuse, and humiliation often involved with hazing is prohibited by school administrators and the law, but hard to prevent. It can bring multiple negative and long term consequences, including physical and psychological trauma for victims involved.
The panel included Lori McDonald, Dean of Students at the University of Utah; Kate Charipar, Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance; Roger Perkins, Director of Veterans Support Center; Marty Liccardo, Health Educator for the Center for Student Wellness; and the panel was moderated by Hailey Ingham, the Vice President of Judicial and Risk Reduction for the Panhellenic Council, at the U of U.
