The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: January 20/23, 2015) — Ambassador Thomas Pickering is a career ambassador for the U.S. State Department – the highest rank in the U.S. foreign service. He served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs from 1997 to 2000. He also served as U.S. ambassador to the Russian Federation, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, and Jordan. He also was the U.S. Ambassador and Representative to the United Nations. This past week he spoke at the Hinckley Institute of Politics, mainly about the challenges America faces in the Middle East.
