safiThe Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: June 8/11, 2016) — Dr. Omid Safi, Professor of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University, spoke recently on April 6, 2016.  Dr. Safi specializes in contemporary Islamic thought and Islamic spirituality. During this hour he speaks about the past, national, and international relationship between the United States and Muslim and non-white peoples in America.  He describes recent trends to illustrate growing Islamophobia, seen on the fringes of the Internet to even the national presidential election. Dr. Safi is the Chair for the Islamic mysticism group at the American Academy of Religion, the largest international organization devoted to academic study of religion.

The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour is a weekly program featuring forums on local, national, and international issues important to people living in Utah. The program airs every Wednesday at 10 AM and Saturday at 9 AM. Hosted by Anthony Scoma, the program highlights and contextualizes the forums presented by the Hinckley Institute of Politics every fall and spring semester at the University of Utah.
