Play

BadAirA recent Salt Lake Tribune public opinion finds that by a 3-to-1 margin, Utahns are fed up with air pollution. They want policy makers to act to clean to clean up the state’s air.  The Tribune and KCPW 88.3/105.3 FM present a public forum to focus on possible solutions to Utah’s pollution problem. A panel of experts moderated by Jennifer Napier-Pearce.  Panelists include:  Bryce Bird, executive director, Utah Division of Air Quality; Kerry Kelly, research associate, Institute for Clean and Secure Energy, University of Utah;  Shawn Teigan, research analyst, Utah Foundation; and  Denitza Blagev, pulmonologist, Intermountain Healthcare.

Why wasn’t there a legislator on the panel? When I talk with people curious about my solar panel powered EV, they are equally impressed by the technology and the Mayor’s six free parking/charging stations in the city. Why aren’t there more free parking spaces for EVs on Salt Lake Streets? When the EV is such an obvious solution to the air pollution, why isn’t it more in the news and comments on our air? Are we at particulate danger in our cars? Are diesel fuels cleaner than gasoline? Is there a difference in the dangerous particulates from morning to evening?
