(KCPW News) Since arriving in Washington, freshman Republican Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz has railed against federal spending on the floor of the House of Representatives. He says the Congressional Voting Card is “the most dangerous credit card on the face of the planet.” But last week, the House approved a bill reviving the “pay-as-you-go” system, which requires federal spending increases in one place to be offset with spending cuts somewhere else, and Congressman Chaffetz voted no. KCPW’s Jeff Robinson caught up with Chaffetz to find out why he would vote against a bill that’s supposed to do exactly what he’s been asking for. Later in the conversation, they discuss healthcare reform.
Democratic Congressman Jim Matheson was the only representative in Utah’s delegation to vote in favor of the “PAYGO” bill last week.
