Rep. Chaffetz Reserves ChaffetzForSenate.com

08.20.2009 by Jeff Robinson

(KCPW News) If you want to reserve the domain name ChaffetzForSenate.com, you’re too late – Congressman Jason Chaffetz has already reserved it.  According to GoDaddy.com, it was registered in early July.  But Chaffetz tells KCPW he just wanted to keep someone else from reserving the domain name in order to keep his options open.

“I reserved a whole set of combinations for a variety of different offices,” he said.  “You just don’t want to have some smart aleck go out there and try to get it and try to extort something out of you for it, so we grabbed a variety of different offices.”

Chaffetz says he hasn’t decided whether to run for re-election or for another office, like Bob Bennett’s seat in the U.S. Senate.  To do that, he’d have to beat Bennett and Attorney General Mark Shurtleff at convention.

The Congressman says he’ll announce his election plans sometime early next year.

“Right now, I’m focused on the House, but I think you’ll see me shortly after the new year make some sort of formal announcement,” he said.

Chaffetz is holding town halls in Utah this month during the summer recess.  He recently changed the location of one in Salt Lake County to accommodate more people.

  1. Chaffetz is a phony we need to get a real conservative to defeat Jason. I hear Mike Lee is fed up with him. Lee can defeat chaffetz

  2. I like and wholeheartedly support Jason Chaffetz, and would neither run against him nor support anyone challenging him. I have no idea who or what prompted the comment posted above, but there is no truth to it whatsoever.

  3. Mike,

I really liked your dad too. I’m saddened to see you follow the right-wing fringe all for the sake of potential political gain. It takes a true statesman to stand up for something even when it’s not popular.

Chaffetz is nothing more than a glory hound bent on using public opportunities for personal gain. Chaffetzforpresident.com? Jasonforsenator.com? Chaffetzforgovernor.com? This guy has been in office for 6 months, and he’s already looking to move on to something bigger and better.

I hope your political future doesn’t follow the same course. This country needs good leaders. And before you began pandering to the far righties, you looked like you had what it takes to be that kind of statesman. Please don’t be another Chaffetz.
