Lawmaker Hoping for Legislative Pay Reform

(KCPW News) A new report from the Associated Press seems to indicate, on first glance, that state lawmakers have it made, getting reimbursed for thousands of dollars in travel and meal expenses year round by the taxpayer, sometimes even when they never paid for those meals to begin with. But one legislator quoted in that story says he actually spends a lot his own money to do the people’s work. Democrat Neil Hansen represents Ogden in the Utah House. He told KCPW’s Jeff Robinson that he took home $13,000 in total compensation as a lawmaker in 2008.
