Entrepreneur Puts the Green in Lawn and Garden
10.06.2009 by Elizabeth Ziegler
(KCPW News) Former sea captain Bernardo Herzer founded LEHR Incorporated to manufacture environmentally-friendly lawn and garden tools that can compete with the power and price of gas-powered, two-stroke machines. He’s since won an award from the Environmental Protection Agency for his products. Herzer got his idea after converting engines on his research vessel to run on propane. He told KCPW’s Elizabeth Ziegler that he saw the impacts of climate change, and decided to do something about it.
LEHR founder and CEO Bernardo Herzer talked to reporter Elizabeth Ziegler last week at the True Value convention in Salt Lake City. LEHR’s propane-powered eco-trimmers and blowers are available at hardware stores. Click here to learn more about the company.

Great idea – too bad it uses DISPOSABLE propane cartridges.
The propane canisters can be recycled using Coleman’s green key program. We at LEHR are working on a refillable system and we have an end of life program for the actual products.
We are very focused on the environment and doing our part.
