Salt Lake City Council Chairman Discusses Nondiscrimination Vote

(KCPW News) After more than an hour of passionate public comments last night on two nondiscrimination ordinances, the Salt Lake City Council signed off on the proposals in a unanimous vote.  One of the comments supporting the laws, which would make discrimination against gay and transgender residents illegal in both employment and housing, came from a surprising source, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  And council members themselves also spoke passionately in favor of the ordinances.  One councilman who voiced his support was Chairman Carlton Christensen.  He spoke with KCPW’s Jeff Robinson about Tuesday night’s meeting.
