Lawmakers Hear Grim Reality of Budget Cuts

(KCPW News) In less than two months, state lawmakers will be hard at work fixing a massive budget shortfall. And there are three critical areas of state government many hope will be held harmless from further cuts: public education, higher education and health and human services. KCPW’s Elizabeth Ziegler sat in on a meeting yesterday of the Utah Legislature’s top budget committee, as it discussed education and other budget issues. She filed this report:

The Utah Legislature’s Executive Appropriations Committee meets next on December 15th to discuss the state’s projected revenues for the next fiscal year.
