Utah Lake Toll Bridge Proposal Angers Environmentalists

(KCPW News) A number of state legislators are supporting a controversial proposal to build a toll bridge across Utah Lake, spanning from Orem to Saratoga Springs, called “Utah Crossing.” But for environmentalists and many members of the communities surrounding the lake, it’s a different story. They’re worried by the fact that no environmental impact statement will be required for the project, since the Army Corps of Engineers has determined the proposed bridge doesn’t fall under its jurisdiction. Jim Westwater is a resident of Spanish Fork and chair of the Utah Valley Sierra Forum. He voiced his concerns to KCPW’s Jeff Robinson.
