Senate President Discusses State Budget Outlook

(KCPW News) Tomorrow, Governor Gary Herbert will release his 2011 budget proposal.  If he’s true to his word, it will contain no tax or fee increases.  But how much will that influence the legislature, which has to do most of the heavy lifting on the budget during the legislative session from January to March?  Earlier this week, we spoke with Washington County Senator Steve Urquhart, who’s gotten several lawmakers to promise not to support any tax increase.  Now, we talk with Senate President Michael Waddoups from West Jordan.  KCPW’s Jeff Robinson asked him why he’s hesitant to promise no tax hikes.
