River Advocates Using Blueprint Jordan River to Fight Sports Complex

(KCPW News) A group of environmentalists is urging Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and the city council to ditch their plans to build a long-awaited sports complex next to the Jordan River. They see this as the first battle in a war against development in the northwest region of the city, and they’re using the Blueprint Jordan River plan as a weapon in their fight. KCPW’s Elizabeth Ziegler reports.

If completed, the sports complex would include soccer fields, a stadium, indoor practice facilities and baseball diamonds. Construction on the first phase of development could begin next fall.
