(KCPW News) Democratic Salt Lake County Council Chairman Joe Hatch knows what it’s like to be in power and in the minority. For most of his nine years as a councilman, representing Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake on the nine-member body, the Democrats have been outnumbered. But that changed after the 2008 election. This week, Hatch announced he would not seek another four-year term in 2010, citing his belief in term limits. KCPW’s Jeff Robinson asked Hatch, who once called Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker a “butthead,” about some of the qualities that make him a unique voice in county government.
